10 Tips for a Superior Web Site Design that is Search Engine Friendly

1. Do not use Flash

2. If you do use flash make sure everything is drawn from external .xml or .txt documents and image includes


3. Text should be text

4. Add a sitemap

5. Do not go crazy with flash or javascript navigation or at least add text links at the bottom of the page

6. The page size should be under 200 KB and under 500 KB if your users all have high speed internet (your web stats will tell you)

7. Add in some alt tags where appropriate for images

8. Add in some Heading tags where appropriate

9. Check how your design displays in IE and Firefox

10. Make sure the design is easy to change or replace. This includes using include files or templates as well as saving Photoshop .psd files in a vector format in an easy to find place.
