Meraki is a start up company that hopes to bring Wi-Fi internet access to poor countries. Meraki has raised twenty million dollars in a second round of company. The Meraki technology is based on inexpensive routers and using bandwidth more efficiently. Radios repeat the internet connections. Meraki has setup over one thousand networks including one for Google. Meraki plans to provide one megabit service to Brazil. Meraki will create a free wireless network to cover San Francisco giving away ten thousand of their routers.
