Comcast announced that they would be introducing an open cable platform

Comcast is one of the most controversial cable companies out there. From their huge market share, to their traffic shaping, to their prices and customer service, Comcast is a big name. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Comcast announced that they would be introducing an open cable platform. This means that cable boxes will no longer be needed. This will allow cable service to be put into many consumer electronic devices. The platform will be Java based (ouch Java sucks and is a dying language). Comcast also promised to deliver one thousand High Definition tv channels by the end of the year. Also in the works is on demand content similar to Cox Communications. Speeds of 100 MB should be achieved delivering HD movies in four minutes. Why can’t we get internet speed that fast you jerks?
