Netflix Down: What the Hell? Not Web Site Maintenance & Outage for 8 Hours Must Be Under Attack

What the Hell Netflix? The web site has been down for over 8 hours. It is not due to web site maintenance as initially reported. Netflix Director of Corporate Communications confirms it has nothing to do with maintenance. “It was an unanticipated, unplanned outage and we apologize to our customers.”

At this point and since Netflix refuses to communicate either via twitter, by their blog, or through other major web sites it must be under attack. In all likelihood it is a Denial of Service attack similar to that which affected several government web sites as well as media web sites last week.

Why else would Netflix refuse to communicate and offer only up the pitiful outage message for the last 8 hours:

You have probably heard that Netflix is selling a Roku box to stream video to your TV. The problem is that Netflix is not making current or popular titles available. Although over ten thousand title are available for streaming video, they are largely unpopular or old titles. Why is this happening? Well because Netflix will be charged more. But wouldn’t it be worth it to finally but Blockbuster out of business? Come on Netflix, take a chance. I think you will be rewarded.
