Wikipedia outsources technical drawings to impoverished foreign countries

The New York Times is reporting that Wikipedia will be paying fees for contributions. No this is not for wiki page contributions so do not get excited. The payments are only for key illustrations for the site. This means professionally drawn illustrations. Contributors will receive $40 for a professionally drawn illustration. That is right; the same professional illustrations that cost hundreds of dollars are more are now priced down to forty dollars. If I was a professional artist this would piss me off. Do you honestly think you can get a professionally drawn technical drawing for $40? I am sorry but Wikipedia has basically said they will outsource their technical drawings to impoverished foreign countries. Wikipedia, you suck. The only time I ever use Wikipedia is to look up slang words that everyone else seems to know but for some reason I don’t.
