J.D. Power and Associates released a survey today on the price of smartphones. Americans are spending $101 average. This is an increase of $9+. Obviously this is because of new technologies and the iPhone. But this is very bad. These artificially inflated smartphone prices need to be going down not up. Oh well maybe with free Google Android software they will.

It appears like some people really do not like Comcast. The Comcast web portal was hacked today. Email functions were also down as were the official forums. Amazingly the hackers were able to edit the Comcast registrar file at Network Solutions and change DNS information. The destination address resided in Germany
Manga is one of my favorite genres of movies. I am jumping up and down with anticipation of the Japanese Manga film Bleach the Movie which is scheduled to be in theatres on June 11, 2008 and June 12, 2008. I am so hyped up that I created my own Manga name: Marayashi Shikartura which means: “Dance of the Forty Bladed Warriors” (or at least in my head). I picked that name because it is just awesome. Google unleashed Android at the Google I/O Conference. This project is widely anticipated. The Open Handset Alliance is supposed to ship this software in phones by the end of this year. It largely met expectations including touch screen functionality, integration with Google products, and functionality similar to the iPhone. Gmail was standard on the phone and you should expect to see ads show up on the phones soon. I didn’t see anything ground breaking but it did meet expectations.
I am wanted by the mob. I ratted out some dirty and dangerous characters and now there is a hit list and a pile of money up for my reward and capture. At least that would be the perfect situation for me to enter into the Witness Protection Program such as in the USA Network’s new original series In Plain Sight. If I had to enter the Witness Protection Program in any city I would either choose to do so in a crowded yet fun place like San Francisco, or I would pick a rich and limited access city such as the Hamptons where it would be difficult for a mob hit man to enter and find me.

Blockbuster videos is fighting back against NetFlix. Blockbuster announced today an in store kiosk to help download movies. The high speed connections for the kiosks allow downloads of movies in about 2 minutes. These movies are open and compatible with multiple devices. Of course Blockbuster hasn’t signed any content deals but it is an interesting idea. Of course the main problem is that you still have to go into the store. Oh well maybe this idea will evolve and improve.
Limelight Networks announced they are hiring 120 employees despite a falling share price. In my last post about Limelight Networks I noted their share price was hovering around $7. Their share price has now dropped to about $2-$3. Why they are hiring 120 new employees in the midst of a struggling share price and lawsuit judgement against them is a mystery to me. Sounds like a PR move hoping for buyout offer.
