Here is something Strange. Blockbuster is trying to buy Circuit City. Both are in the dumps. Why would Blockbuster basically want to put itself out of business like this? Blockbuster is offering about 1 billion dollars for Circuit City. This move astonished me. Netflix is clearly dominating Blockbuster. But why would Blockbuster want Circuit City? I guess they want more store locations.

Europe wants more privacy online. Large companies and search engines have resisted this push. But others are taking notice including users and other governments. I expect to see some pending legislation and governmental influence. This should all occur in the next few years. It will be very interesting to watch unfold.
In a potentially bad move Yahoo is going to try using Google search ads. Yahoo is clearly desperate to avoid a Microsoft takeover bid. But giving more market share to Google is clearly a monopoly. The test will be conducted with United States traffic for search and will last for three weeks with limitations to three percent of overall traffic. No one can avoid the fact that Yahoo and Google combined account for ninety percent of search advertising. The Antitrust Subcommittee commented saying they will examine the situation closely. I suspect Yahoo is instead using this as a bargaining chip to get Microsoft to up their offer.
Adobe has created a media player. The Adobe Media Player 1.0 plays videos on a MAC and PC. Both streaming and offline playback. The download is free and comes with a subscription application. Adobe is signing partnerships with several networks. Adobe will use their own digital rights management server. Initially only Flash will work with the player. Adobe continues to innovate. Microsoft had given a deadline to Yahoo. Microsoft has formally threatened a proxy fight. The proxy fight will begin if Yahoo and Microsoft do not reach terms in three weeks. The Yahoo board stands to be replaced. This will no doubt send Yahoo scrambling. I suspect we will see a victorious Microsoft soon.
